On June 7th, 2020. RSM-Montreal showed up with comrades from Jeunes Socialistes pour le Pouvoir Populaire – JSPP to march in the militant Red Contingent at the big demonstration against racism and police brutality. Correlation isn’t causality, and this map isn’t up to date because there are more cases everyday, but there’s a clear picture to see here, even from 2 week old data. Who is hardest hit by the virus? Roughly speaking, it is the districts who are the poorest and least white. The most obvious hole in the donut is Westmount. Those in wealthy districts can afford to escape to cottage country! They don’t have to work in precarious conditions with exposure being a constant fact of their everyday reality.

Almost nobody in Montreal voted for CAQ. Legault and his crew don’t GAF about Montrealers, and certainly least of all poor Montrealers and ethnic Montrealers. It”s clear from the chaos in the streets that the powers that be cannot handle the crisis. People need to unite and look out for each other.

It bears repeating that the rent strike isn’t over.
Especially with moving day fast approaching. It needs your support to succeed. Many are too intimidated by the federal government threatening to make them pay back the CERB if they did not make enough! EI claimants are also getting less.

This is a storm the rich can afford to weather! One that they profit from, even. In response to such naked class war Those who can’t need to stick together and support each other’s actions.
